Thank you Stacey, these are delightful!
THANK YOU GRANNY LYNNE!
THANK YOU PENNY & FRIENDS!
This week we received a massive craft donation on the Gold Coast in QLD! These donations were coordinated and in part created by Gold Coast local crafter Penny Waugh.
Penny rediscovered her love of yarn when she retired to the to the Gold Coast with her husband in 2004. When unpacking her boxes she found her "wool stash" that she had been moving from place to place for many years. Penny made the decision to join Knit4Charities and joined a knitting group called "Yarns and Yarn" at the local library and was soon entrusted to distribute the donations.
This active group of about 12 members still meets every fortnight to create items for donation. She also has other generous friends who knit to donate to those in need. Penny now also creates for Knit4Brisbane Needy.
Penny and her busy crafty friends actively donate to many charities (including local hospitals and aged care facilities, our troops overseas and international organisations and more!). AFTF was very excited to have been selected to receive a generous of a range of beautiful hand crafted items as shown below.
A fabulous donation!
Homewares are becoming an important part of Angels for the Forgotten's (AFTF) services. AFTF helps kids transitioning out of foster care and into independent living and items such as placemats, tablecoths, sheets, towel sets, tea towels and rugs are items that make a house a home. AFTF also assists women and children feeling domestic violence to establish new homes.
Mel is part of the Crafty Mummas sewing group in SE QLD, a sewing team that work closely with me (the Craft Team Leader) to trial new items for inclusion in our programs.
Mel has come up with many ideas this year so far, and successfully trialled baby change mats, slouch & baby beanies and more recently reusable baby wipes and placemats.
We appreciate your efforts Mel and wish you luck with the new bub in coming weeks!
Love your work Mel!

Thank you ladies! They are just delightful!
The thing I like most about hand made items is that someone has taken the time to think, plan and create something with their own hands.
To me, hand making a gift for someone you will never meet makes it even more special.
Thinking, planning and creating a hand made item for someone you know is in crisis, someone you will never meet, I believe that is a true gift indeed.
Thanks Glenda, they are gorgeous as always!
